HiCar certification has become significantly stricter in 2026 compared with previous years, with new requirements for document standards and cycle control. The newly added items such as tax registration certificates, vehicle model lists, and prototype quantity requirements are all mandatory rules this year. Missing any of them will prevent the submission for testing. The timeline is no longer a rough estimate; each stage has a clear time range.
HiCar certification materials fall into three categories. All documents must be stamped with the company seal, and information such as company name, product model, and specifications must be consistent throughout. Starting in 2026, Huawei uniformly requires templates supporting HiCar SDK 6.0+. Old-version documents will not be accepted.
1.Enterprise Qualification Documents (1–2 weeks to prepare)
·Business license scan with clear vehicle-mounted equipment or smart hardware scope;
·Tax registration certificate or electronic tax registration proof (new in 2026);
·Registered Huawei Developer Enterprise account screenshot, signed and sealed HiCar Ecosystem Cooperation MOU and security compliance agreement;
·Quality system certification: ISO9001 for general enterprises, IATF16949 for OEMs;
·BQB, Wi-Fi, and RF compliance reports for wireless-enabled products.
2.Product Technical Documents
·Product specification, schematic diagram, PCB layout, structural design description;
·Software version description, HiCar SDK 6.0+ integration notes, software architecture diagram;
·Self-test report with 100% test case coverage and 100% pass rate;
·Hardware/software resource constraint form, official certification application form;
·Vehicle model compatibility list for aftermarket devices (new in 2026).
3.Prototypes & Testing Materials
·Aftermarket head units: 2 test benches + 5 complete prototypes with stable mass-production firmware;
·OEM products: 1 complete vehicle + 1 test bench with valid temporary license and insurance;
·Product nameplates, serial number list, packing list matching technical documents.
II.HiCar Certification Timeline (2026)
The process follows four fixed stages: Registration → Development & Self-test → Lab Testing → Review & Certification.
1.Registration & Application (1–3 months)
Fastest 1 month with complete qualifications; may extend to 2–3 months if qualifications are incomplete.
2.Development & Self-test (1–6 months)
·Lightweight aftermarket adapters: 1–2 months;
·Aftermarket head units: 3–4 months;
·OEM smart cockpits: 5–6 months.
3.Lab Testing (2–3 months)
·First-pass success: ~2 months;
·With retesting and rectification: 2.5–3 months.
4.Final Review & Issuance (2–4 weeks)
Fastest 2 weeks; 3–4 weeks if supplementary materials are required.
Overall Cycle Summary
·Aftermarket devices: 9–12 weeks;
·OEM smart cockpits: 12–18 weeks;
·Full project: 5–7 months depending on self-test quality and lab pass rate.
Key Tips
·Prepare all stamped documents in advance, especially tax certificates and vehicle lists;
·Prioritize thorough self-testing to avoid repeated lab retesting;
·Prepare accurate prototype quantities and pre-age test samples;
·Complete BQB and RF certifications early for wireless products.
