With 10 years in foreign trade for electronic and electrical products, I’ve made many CB mistakes. This guide shares only practical, no-nonsense advice.
CB is an IECEE mutual recognition system. It reduces duplicate testing when converting to national certifications. It is NOT a market access certificate — only a testing shortcut.
II. Applicable Standards for CB Certification
·Home appliances: IEC 60335 series
·AV/IT equipment: IEC 62368-1 (4th ed. mandatory 2026)
·Lighting: IEC 60598, IEC 61347
·Lasers: IEC 60825-1 (ACP mode)
·Batteries/chargers: IEC 62133, IEC 60950
III. Key 2026 Reminders
·IEC 62368-1:2023 only; 3rd edition invalid.
·Photobiological/laser products use ACP, not CB, since Feb 2025.
·IEC 61347-1:2024 now in effect.
IV. Required Documentation
·Bilingual user manual
·Schematics & PCB layout
·BOM / CDF
·Critical component specs or certificates
·Label/nameplate design
·Factory docs (only for CB-FCS)
V. Testing Process & Timeline
·Simple products: 2–3 weeks
·Complex products: 4–6 weeks
·Batteries/wireless: 8+ weeks
·Always verify model, standard, component list, and holder info on the final certificate.
VI. CB Certificate Validity
IECEE does not set a fixed 3‑ or 5‑year validity.A CB certificate is valid if:
1.The standard is not withdrawn
2.The product is unchanged
Some NCBs print 3–5 year validity as internal policy. Older reports may require retesting in markets like Korea but are not automatically invalid.
