1.Preparation
·Classify product: smart? wireless? high-risk?
·Match correct AS/NZS standards.
·Appoint a genuine Australian Local Responsible Person with valid ABN — mandatory.
·Prepare full English technical files.
·Smart products: prepare cybersecurity documentation.
2.Sample Testing (2026 Critical)
·Submit 3–5 mass-production samples to a NATA/ILAC-accredited lab.
·Basic products: safety + EMC.
·Wireless: add RF testing.
·Smart products: add mandatory cybersecurity testing (weak passwords, vulnerabilities, encryption, firmware updates).
3.Documentation & Registration
·Local Responsible Person signs Declaration of Conformity (DoC).
·Smart products add cybersecurity compliance statement.
·Registration via EESS (electrical) or ACMA (wireless).
·Regulated products need a unique registration number.
4.Labeling & Customs Clearance
·Apply RCM mark only after registration passes.
·Mark height ≥ 3mm, permanently on product body (not just box).
·Include registration number for regulated products.
·Prepare test report, DoC, and registration proof for customs.
II. 2026 RCM Validity Rules
1.No fixed validity: depends on safety certificate — 2–5 years.
·High-risk: 2–3 years.
·Low-risk: 3–5 years.
2.Annual EESS renewal fee: 75 AUD per product per brand. Failure to pay results in automatic deregistration.
3.Recertification required if:
·Product design, key components, or firmware changes.
·AS/NZS standards are updated.
·Local Responsible Person is changed.
