WiFi Compatibility Certification Documents & Validity

2026-04-17

Document preparation is the most underrated part of WiFi certification, often causing delays of 2–3 weeks due to incomplete submissions. Validity rules are also widely misunderstood.

I. Two-Tier Certification Documents

Basic Documents (Required for All Paths)

·Enterprise qualification: Valid business license, contact letter with company-domain email

·Technical documents: Product specs (WiFi standard, frequency band, power), complete schematics/PCB layouts, firmware & WPA3 info, English manual with certification placeholder, label draft, sample consistency statement (stamped)

·Intellectual property statement for authorized modules

Path-Specific Supplementary Documents

·FlexTrack: Internal self-test report

·QuickTrack: Pre-certification certificate of WiFi module + adaptation test report

·Derivation: Original certification + core hardware unchanged statement

Special Product Documents

·6GHz/Wi-Fi 6E/7: DFS test data

·Wi-Fi 7: MLO test documents

·Automotive products: AEC-Q100, environmental test reports

  II. WiFi Certification Validity

Certification has no fixed expiration date but remains valid only if:

1.WFA membership is active: $6,000 annual fee, paid by December 31. Late payment suspends logo usage rights.

2.No interoperability-affecting changes: Re-certify for new WiFi chips, antenna modifications, or protocol-altering firmware updates.

3.Compliance with updated test plans: Adapt to WFA test plan revisions within the transition period (6–12 months).

After Certification Lapse

<1 month: Renew with arrears + activation fee

1 month: Full re-certification required
