Release Date: May 2026 | Applicable Products: Vehicle radio, vehicle infotainment system, DAB receiver module
Most manufacturers waste time and laboratory schedule by repeatedly supplementing documents in the preparation stage. This article clarifies mandatory documents, optional materials and validity rules for EU ETSI TS 101 756 certification.
ETSI TS 101 756 is a DAB parameter dictionary and not a required submission document for certification. The actual required materials are test reports per ETSI EN 300 401 and supporting technical document packages for compliance review.
Document preparation shall be backward deduced from certification body requirements: clarify documents issued by laboratories, manufacturer self-prepared files and third-party sealed materials to avoid rework.
2. Required Documents for ETSI TS 101 756 Certification
Category 1: Laboratory Issued Test Reports (Core Material)
Must be issued by qualified accredited laboratories, covering all applicable ETSI standard clauses with test conditions, raw data and final judgment conclusions. Test equipment list and calibration certificates shall be attached for authenticity verification.
Two common pitfalls:
·Standard Version Mismatch: ETSI standards are revised regularly; reports citing outdated versions will be rejected for reissuance. Confirm version consistency before submission.
·Sample Consistency: Report recorded model, hardware version and product appearance must match mass-production products; inconsistent details will trigger official supplementary explanation requirements.
Category 2: Manufacturer Self-Prepared Technical Documents
·Product Technical Manual: Including product function description, DAB module model & parameters, antenna interface specification, power supply requirement and physical dimension; parameters must be consistent with test report data.
·Schematic & PCB Layout: Only DAB RF link drawings are required; authorities focus on RF front-end circuit, antenna interface and power processing design, corresponding to BOM component models.
·BOM List: List key components with model, manufacturer and parameters, especially DAB chip, RF devices and antenna modules; mark pre-certified module supplier model and certificate number.
·Antenna Specification: Specify antenna type, interface, gain, VSWR and impedance; customized antennas shall attach design files and supplier test data.
·Software Version Description: DAB demodulation, decoding and display logic are affected by software versions; version upgrade differences and impact on test results shall be explained clearly.
Category 3: Quality System & Administrative Documents
EU WVTA vehicle type approval usually requires manufacturer ISO 9001 quality management system certificate copy.
For externally purchased pre-certified DAB modules, provide module certificate copy and integration compatibility statement to clarify certification coverage and 整机 integration boundary conditions.
Application forms and authorization declarations adopt official templates; incorrect signature and seal position will result in direct rejection.
Category 4: Supplementary Rectification Documents
For non-compliant test items, submit rectification reports with detailed cause analysis, improvement measures and verification conclusions. Vague descriptions such as "rectified and compliant" will not pass current regulatory review.
For customized multi-region frequency band configuration and multi-language display functions, confirm local market access requirements in advance; these are not mandatory EU WVTA audit items but require targeted document preparation for Middle East and Southeast Asian markets.
3. Validity Period of EU WVTA DAB Certificate
The EU WVTA DAB certificate remains valid during the unchanged implementation of applicable regulations and standard versions, but not permanently. Re-evaluation is required under three circumstances:
·Hardware Modification: Changes to DAB RF link, antenna scheme, DAB module model or RF front-end circuit require performance re-evaluation; minor modifications may accept supplementary test reports, while major changes require full re-certification.
·ETSI Standard Version Update: New product applications must adopt the latest standard version once updated versions are adopted by EU WVTA. Minor revisions usually do not invalidate existing certificates for new vehicle declaration.
·Fundamental Regulatory Revision: Updates to EECC Directive 2018/1972 implementation rules may require supplementary assessment for old certificates in new model applications. It is recommended to follow the Official Journal of the European Union annually for DAB regulatory updates.
