Bluetooth SIG has successively updated QPRD documents from V3 to V5 and fully replaced the old Launch Studio with the new Qualification Workspace certification system in recent years. Outdated operation rules often lead to failed listing application and delayed product shipment. Here are the latest official rule adjustments in detail.
Since July 2024 QPRD V3 took effect, the official QDID designation has been fully replaced by DN (Design Number). The new QPRD V5 version released in April 2026 has completely implemented this naming standard, with all newly issued certification numbers uniformly named DN.
DID declaration number and RN payment receipt number remain unchanged in official definitions, performing independent functions without mutual replacement or merger.
Three Official Certified Design Path Selection Rules
·Existing design listing path: Applicable to finished products adopting unmodified certified Bluetooth modules. QPRD V4 and V5 have raised access thresholds; secondary firmware development and customized protocol function modification will disqualify simplified exemption testing.
·Multi-design combination path: Only official permitted combined designs specified in SIG documents are accepted; cross-version Bluetooth core specification mixed matching will be directly rejected in review.
·Full self-developed design certification path: Suitable for chip-level independent research and development products, requiring complete full-item standardized testing.
Critical Time Limit Rules Updated in 2025
·RN payment voucher validity: Adopter ordinary members enjoy 6-month validity, while Associate senior members have a 12-month valid period; expired RN numbers are invalid with no fee refund available.
·Certified product public release rule: Certified products must complete official database public information setting within 180 days after review approval.
·Cancellation of regular triennial re-assessment: Since QPRD V3 was implemented, the mandatory three-year regular review rule has been abolished, yet hardware core modifications such as antenna replacement and chip upgrading still require change filing or re-certification.
Official Membership & Certification Fee Adjustment Notice
SIG officially announced an overall 8.7% increase in membership annual fees and product certification management fees effective March 1, 2026.
Ordinary Adopter members have zero annual fees with a fixed single complete certification management fee; senior Associate members are divided into multiple tiers with different annual fee standards, enjoying exclusive certification fee discounts. Enterprises can select matching membership types according to annual certification volume to control comprehensive compliance costs.
Bluetooth Core Specification Version Compliance Requirements
The official Bluetooth core specification has been updated to version 6.2, with new functional characteristics such as channel detection added successively. SIG strictly restricts the use of obsolete old-version specifications; products declaring support for new-version Bluetooth functions must complete matching new-function extended tests.
Practical Compliance Suggestions for Chinese Manufacturers
Bluetooth qualification certification is not a mandatory legal access certificate for pure domestic sales in China, while SRRC radio type approval is the compulsory domestic market access document.
All export-oriented Bluetooth products must complete SIG qualification certification to avoid trademark infringement risks and cross-border platform offline penalties.
