ERA-GLONASS is Russia’s mandatory in-vehicle emergency call system, tightly bound with GLONASS satellite navigation. It works independently and is incompatible with EU eCall.

1. Mandatory Implementation Timeline

Fully enforced in 2017 by batches for different vehicle categories; all compliant models must pass certification to enter Eurasian market in 2026.

Modern ERA-GLONASS supports 4G LTE, compatible with 2G/3G for remote area coverage. IP data transmission gradually replaces traditional SMS as the mainstream.
