2026 Canada IC Certification – Required Documents & Validity

2026-03-09

Many applications are rejected due to incomplete or improperly translated documents. A common myth is that IC Certification is “permanent.”

I. 2026 Required Documents:

1. Company Qualification

·Business license (English/French, certified translation)

·Trademark certificate (if applicable)

·Canadian local agent authorization (ISED‑registered)

2. Technical Files

·Product specification (frequency, power, hardware version)

·Schematics, PCB layout, block diagram

·BOM with IC/FCC certification numbers for critical components

·SCC‑accredited test report (including AFC for 6GHz)

3. User & Labeling Documents

·English/French user manual with compliance statements

·Product label design (IC number, model, manufacturer)

·Signed Declaration of Conformity

4. Special Device Extras

·SAR report for high‑power / 5G / cellular

·Cybersecurity compliance for connected cameras/routers

·Module certification & letter of authorization if using certified modules

  II. 2026 Validity Rules:

IC Certification does NOT have a fixed validity period. It remains valid only if:

·No hardware or firmware changes affecting RF performance

·ISED standards are not updated

·Local agent remains active

·Records are maintained for 5 years

Re‑certification required if:

·Antenna, chip, or module changed

·Firmware alters power or frequency

·ISED standards are revised

  III. Top 5 Mistakes:

·Chinese‑only documents → immediate rejection

·Missing component certification numbers

·Assuming firmware updates do not affect compliance

·Unregistered local agent

·Failure to keep records for audits
