What Is BQB Bluetooth Certification? (2026 Latest)

2026-04-02

BQB (Bluetooth Qualification Body) Certification is a global mandatory compliance program administered by the Bluetooth SIG (Special Interest Group). Any product using Bluetooth wireless technology and displaying the “Bluetooth” trademark or logo must complete this certification.

A common misunderstanding: module certification does NOT replace final product certification. The final product must be separately qualified or listed even if the module is BQB-certified.

I.Core Purposes of BQB Certification

1.Ensure interoperability between devices;

2.Legally use Bluetooth trademarks;

3.Meet market access for domestic and global sales;

4.Guarantee RF performance, protocol stability, and data security.

  II.4 Types of BQB Certification (2026)

1.Full Certification (QDID): for custom Bluetooth solutions, 4–6 weeks, highest cost;

2.Listing Certification (EPL/QDL): most popular for finished products using pre-certified modules, 1–2 weeks, low cost;

3.Component Certification: for chips/modules, supports downstream listing;

4.Upgrade Certification: for minor firmware/hardware changes, 1–2 weeks.

  III.Key Test Items (2025–2026 Updated)

Mandatory Tests

·RF performance, protocol conformance, interoperability, security encryption;

·Bluetooth 5.4 mandatory since Oct 2025;

·LE Audio mandatory for audio devices in 2026 (LC3, Auracast);

·Improved AoA/AoD positioning accuracy.

Product-Specific Tests

·Audio: A2DP, HFP, LE Audio;

·Automotive: connection stability, multi-link, voice collaboration;

·IoT: AoA/AoD precision, low-power performance.

  IV.Product Categories Requiring BQB

·Automotive: head units, HiCar boxes, T-Box;

·Consumer electronics: headsets, speakers, wearables;

·IoT & industrial: gateways, sensors, trackers;

·Components: chips, modules, antennas.
