KC EMC is the mandatory electromagnetic compatibility certification for the Korean market, regulated by RRA (Radio Research Agency).
Without it, you cannot legally sell in South Korea.
It verifies two things:
1.EMI: product does not emit excessive electromagnetic interference.
2.EMS: product resists external interference.
Since 2025, all products ≥ 50V AC or ≥ 75V DC require KC EMC — no exceptions.
Important:KC EMC ≠ KC SafetyThey are separate and cannot replace each other.
II. Products That Must Have KC EMC
·Home appliances
·IT and office equipment
·Audio/video devices
·Power supplies & adapters
·Wireless communication devices
·Lighting (new 2026 harmonic limits)
Even small-batch / batch certification requires EMC testing.
III. 2026 KC EMC Core Requirements
·EMI: conducted & radiated emissions
·EMS: ESD ±15kV, surge, EFT
·Standards: KS CISPR 32 (IT/AV), KS CISPR 14-1 (home appliances), KS IEC 61000-4 (immunity)
·Wireless products: add RF and SAR testing
·Testing must be done at RRA-authorized labs
IV. KC EMC Process
1.Product classification
2.Prepare Korean/English documents
3.Test at RRA-accredited lab (2–3 weeks)
4.Submit via agent (1–2 weeks)
5.Issue certificate (valid 5 years)
