01Introduction to CEC Certification

CEC certification is the Appliance Efficiency Regulation implemented by the California Energy Commission on December 30, 2005. The purpose of this regulation is to improve the efficiency of electrical products, save energy, reduce gas emissions and the greenhouse effect.

With more and more electronic products appearing in daily life, "saving energy" will become an urgent problem that everyone must face in the 21st century. The California Energy Commission (CEC) is about to implement a new mandatory standard for the energy efficiency of AC-DC and AC-AC external power supplies on July 1, 2006, when almost all electronic products will be impacted .

The standard will cover all products that use external power supplies (such as chargers and adapters), including mobile phones, home cordless phones, portable music players, handheld game consoles, toys, etc., and requires these products to be in standby and in use. Use energy in a more efficient way.

This means that after mid-2006, all transformers, external power supplies, adapters, and chargers used in the United States and sold to the United States will have to change their designs.

In addition to saving energy, the CEC's new norm will also have a major impact on the environment. According to the company, if all California's external power supplies comply with the new standards, California will be able to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 360,000 tons each year, an amount equivalent to the annual emissions of 60,000 cars.

The regulation stipulates that electrical products must first meet the equipment energy efficiency regulations when they are sold in California, the regulation stipulates energy efficiency index requirements, measurement methods and phased implementation plans for 58 categories of electrical products. According to the requirements of this regulation, electrical products must be tested by a qualified laboratory in accordance with the corresponding regulations or standards in the United States, and they can only be sold in California after they are certified to meet the requirements.

02CEC certified test methods

introduction

CEC is the abbreviation of the California State Energy Commission, and its responsibility is to make the energy market develop in the direction of healthy competition.

Starting from July 1, 2006, all external power supplies (AC/AC, AC/DC adaptor) exported to California in the United States must meet the requirements of the California State Energy Commission.

The California Energy Efficiency Regulations promulgated by the club, this California energy efficiency regulation is a new energy efficiency regulation developed on the basis of the US Energy Star.

Below, let's analyze the specific scope, definition, testing, marking and precautions of CEC certification.

Scope

The definition range of CEC's external power supply is: single-phase voltage input AC/DC or AC/AC external power adapter.

definition

Here, let's introduce some nouns in CEC's test standards, such as

⑴ Active Mode: Operation mode. Refers to the mode of the power supply under operating conditions.

(2) Active Mode Efficiency: Energy efficiency in working mode. The working mode energy efficiency is equal to the ratio of the real output power and the real input power in the working mode. usually

Expressed as a percentage.

(3) No Load: no-load mode. Refers to the mode when the product is connected to the input voltage but not connected to the load.

⑷ No Load Power: No-load power. Refers to the input power of the product in no-load mode.

⑸ UUT: is the abbreviation of UNIT UNDER TEST.

⑹ Ambient Temperature: ambient temperature. Refers to the ambient temperature at the time of the test.

⑺ Power Factor (True): Power factor. Its value is equal to the ratio of real power loss/apparent power.

⑻ Total Harmonic Distortion (THD): Total Harmonic Distortion.

⑼ Apparent Power (S): Apparent power. Product of input voltage and input current.

⑽ Nameplate Input Voltage: The nameplate input voltage refers to the input voltage of the product declared by the customer on the label.

⑾ Nameplate Input Frequency: The frequency of the input voltage declared by the customer on the nameplate.

⑿ Nameplate Output Voltage: The customer's nominal output voltage on the nameplate.

⒀ Nameplate Output Current: The customer's nominal output current on the nameplate.

test

⑴ Summary:

Test conditioning, unless otherwise stated, is performed under the following test conditions.

⑵ test

Instrument: Power measurements must be performed with a calibrated voltammeter or power analyzer. The instrument must be calibrated according to IEC 62301, when the test power is

At 0.5W, the error must be less than or equal to 2%. When the test power is less than 0.5W, the error must be less than 0.01W. The accuracy of the instrument for power testing must be

0.01W or better. The error of the tested voltage and current must be less than or equal to 2%.

⑶ test room

According to the standard requirements of IEC 62301, the air flow in the test room must be 0.5m/s or less, and the ambient temperature must be controlled within the range of 23℃±5℃.

It must be tested on a laboratory bench without heat conduction. Products for outdoor use, if there are additional testing requirements, must be stated in the report.

⑷ Test voltage

According to the standard requirements of IEC 62301, the fluctuation range of the test voltage cannot exceed ±1% of the specified test voltage and ±1% of the specified test frequency. If the input power indicated on the nameplate

If the voltage is wide voltage, the test voltage is 115V/60Hz and 230V/50Hz. If the nameplate indicates a single voltage input, the test voltage is the above two test voltages

one of the close ones.

⑸ Result judgment

California Energy Efficiency Law stipulates that from July 1, 2006, all external power supplies exported to California must meet the average energy efficiency regulations and no-load power requirements in the following table (see Table 1)

From January 1, 2008, all external power supplies exported to California must meet the new average energy efficiency regulations and no-load power requirements in the following table TABLE2 (see Table 2)

All tests must take into account 100%, 75%, 50%, 25% load conditions of the output current indicated on the nameplate (Note: the error range of the load here cannot exceed

±2%), respectively record its input power, input current, power factor, output voltage, and THD (Total Harmonic Distortion), and then according to energy efficiency = (output voltage × output current)

/input power to calculate the current energy efficiency value, and then average the energy efficiency values measured under the four load conditions of 100%, 75%, 50%, and 25% to obtain the average energy efficiency value.

It is necessary to test the input power value when the output current is 0% load. The average energy efficiency value and no-load power value obtained from the above test are judged according to the limit requirements of TABLE1 and TABLE2

Whether it complies with which energy efficiency label.
