1️⃣ Introduction
The UAE ECAS (Emirates Conformity Assessment Scheme) certification system has undergone important regulatory updates in 2025, particularly regarding the new conformity mark, energy efficiency label (EESL), and testing standards for specific electronic products.
These updates are issued by the UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) to enhance market transparency, product traceability, and compliance with international standards.

2️⃣ 1. New ECAS LVE Conformity Mark Requirements
Starting March 15, 2025, all newly certified or imported energy-regulated products must use the new ECAS LVE conformity mark.
This mark must comply with strict visual and dimensional standards:
Minimum Size: 3 cm × 1.5 cm
Aspect Ratio: 1:2 (width:height)
Placement: On the front or bottom-left of the product, clearly visible and permanent.
Design Note: The new design reflects updated branding by MoIAT and must not be distorted or modified.
Important: Products still using the old ECAS mark after September 15, 2025, are considered non-compliant and subject to removal from the market.
3️⃣ 2. Certification Process Remains Unchanged
Despite visual and labeling updates, the core ECAS certification procedure remains the same.
Manufacturers and exporters must continue to follow the standard ECAS process:
Confirm product scope and applicable UAE standard.
Conduct testing at an ISO/IEC 17025-accredited laboratory.
Submit application through a UAE Local Authorized Representative (LAR) recognized by ESMA/MoIAT.
Receive ECAS Conformity Certificate (CoC) and EESL registration.
Only the labeling and documentation details have changed — not the process flow itself.
4️⃣ 3. Updated Energy Efficiency Label (EESL) Requirements
For high-energy-consumption products such as:
Air conditioners
Refrigerators
Washing machines
Water heaters
Manufacturers must now display the new version of the EESL (Energy Efficiency Label) alongside the ECAS mark.
Key requirements include:
Star Rating (1–5 stars) clearly printed.
Energy consumption (kWh/year) and model identification number displayed.
Bilingual labeling (Arabic + English).
The label must be affixed in a visible position and resistant to removal.
The updated label design aligns with MoIAT’s sustainability initiative to promote transparent energy performance disclosure.
5️⃣ 1. Transition Period Officially Ended
As of November 2025, the transition period for using old marks and labels has fully expired.
All ECAS-certified products — whether newly produced or still in warehouses — must display the new conformity mark and updated energy label.
Products with old marks are no longer legally saleable in the UAE market.
6️⃣ 2. Updated Testing Standards for IT & AV Equipment
For IT equipment and audio/video products, the certification now requires test reports to be based on the latest edition of the international standard:
IEC 62368-1:2018 or IEC 62368-1:2023 (whichever is applicable).
Tip: When preparing test reports, confirm that your testing laboratory references the latest version to avoid report rejection during ECAS application review.
7️⃣ 1. Confirm Mark & Label Design Early
Before printing or shipment, verify that the mark and label artwork follow the official MoIAT templates.
You can download the approved designs directly from the MoIAT official website.
8️⃣ 2. Keep Test Reports Updated
Reports older than 3 years may be rejected. Ensure all energy efficiency, safety, and EMC tests reflect the current UAE standards.
9️⃣ 3. Maintain Record Consistency
Ensure that your product’s model name, rating, and energy grade remain consistent across the:
ECAS certificate
EESL registration
Product label
Technical documentation
Inconsistency can lead to non-compliance notices or import rejections.
| Aspect | Before 2025 | After 2025 (New Rule) |
|---|---|---|
| Conformity Mark | Old ECAS logo | New MoIAT-approved ECAS LVE mark |
| Energy Efficiency Label | Optional for some products | Mandatory for all regulated categories |
| Transition Deadline | March–Sept 2025 | Ended November 2025 |
| Testing Standards | IEC 62368-1:2014 | IEC 62368-1:2018 / 2023 |
| Label Language | English optional | Arabic + English required |
Q1: Is the certification process different after the new mark update?
A1: No. The process steps (testing, document submission, ESMA review) remain the same — only labeling requirements changed.
Q2: Do I need to reapply if my old certificate is still valid?
A2: No reapplication needed, but you must update your mark and label before your next shipment or product relaunch.
Q3: What if my products still use the old mark after November 2025?
A3: They will be non-compliant and may face customs blockage or recall.
Q4: How can I get the new mark design file?
A4: The updated mark and label templates can be downloaded from the MoIAT official website under the “Energy Label & Conformity Mark” section.
Q5: What’s the most common cause of ECAS rejections now?
A5: Submitting test reports based on outdated IEC 62368-1:2014 or using incorrect mark dimensions.
