KC RF Certification is the mandatory radio frequency compliance certification for wireless products sold in South Korea, under the official KC certification system.
Broadly speaking, KC certification has two main parts:
·KC Safety: protects against electric shock, fire, and high temperature.
·KC RF: regulates radio transmission, frequency, power, and interference to protect public communication, base stations, and navigation systems.
Any wireless product exported to Korea must have KC RF — safety-only certification will be rejected at customs.
·Bluetooth: earphones, speakers, remotes, bands
·Wi-Fi: routers, cameras, smart plugs, modules
·Remote control: toys, lights, access control, drones
·Communications: walkie-talkies, cell phones, IoT modules (LoRa, ZigBee)
·Wireless charging, RFID, 2.4G/5G devices
Wired-only products need only KC Safety + KC EMC.
II. Core KC RF Tests
·Operating frequency within approved Korean bands
·Transmit power limits
·Spurious emission control
·Occupied bandwidth & modulation compliance
·Wireless module compatibility & overall system matching
III. KC RF vs KC EMC vs KC Safety
·KC Safety: electrical safety
·KC EMC: electromagnetic compatibility (mutual interference)
·KC RF: radio frequency compliance (frequency, power, signal)Wireless products typically need all three.
IV. Key Practical Rules (2026)
·Application must be submitted by a Korean Agent (KAR).
·Only latest RF standards are accepted.
·Label must show KC mark + KCC ID.
·Pre-certified wireless modules may qualify for partial test exemptions.
·Market sampling is strict; non-compliance leads to fines and recalls.
