Full CarPlay Certification Process

1. MFi Membership & Factory Audit (1–3 months)

Obtain D-U-N-S number, register MFi account, submit ISO9001, qualifications, and pay annual fee. Apple-authorized agencies conduct factory audits. Non-compliance requires re-audit.

2. Product Proposal & Apple Pre-review (2–4 months)

Submit PPID on MFi platform, define product type, chip model, and functions.Mandatory in 2026:

·CarPlay 2.0 support

·DSM interface design

·Facets 3 testing preparation

3. R&D & Facets 3 Pre-testing (3–6 months)

Develop with authorized MFi chips, integrate iAP2 protocol, conduct EMC and DSM debugging.All self-testing must use Facets 3 (Facets 2 discontinued).

4. Apple-Authorized Lab Formal Testing (2–5 months)

·Wired accessories: 2–3 months

·Wireless adapters: 3–4 months

·Head units: 4–5 monthsFailure requires retesting, adding 1–2 months per round.

5. Apple Final Review & Certification (1–2 months)

Apple reviews reports and production consistency before issuing the certificate and TID.
