1. HiPlay Access Prerequisites and Ecosystem Agreement

All HiPlay access processes are unified on Huawei's Device Partner platform. Without signing the Ecosystem Framework Agreement, you cannot access official technical specifications or submit product certification applications. After the framework agreement is in place, each independent product model starts its own certification process.

HiPlay protocol stack operation requires an authorised audio DSP solution – the chip must be on Huawei's approved list; third-party chips can be used only after Huawei review and listing. Without Huawei's official key authorisation, even if basic communication can be established, two-way authentication will fail – the product will fall back to basic 5V charging or basic Bluetooth audio – failing to meet HiPlay准入 standards.

Verify authorisation status during hardware selection – do not wait until PCB design is finalised and prototypes are built only to find the chip is not on the approved list – wasting significant time and cost.

Conducted and radiated RF tests are performed – simulating different distances and wireless attenuation scenarios – continuously monitoring audio interruption and stutter frequency – to assess casting stability in complex wireless environments.

Upon final approval, the HiPlay certification certificate is issued – the product is entered into Huawei's public HiPlay-compatible device list. The certificate is tied to the complete submitted hardware solution – but there is no absolute "permanent ID" rule. Major changes to the main controller, RF, or antenna require re-evaluation – potentially retesting or even full re-certification.

  5. Common HiPlay Project Pitfalls

5.1 Firmware not fully locked before submission
Once formal testing begins, firmware changes are prohibited – modifying code mid-test invalidates all collected data – requiring a full restart. The R&D team must lock the final production firmware before the submission milestone.

5.2 Antenna changes after submission
Antenna gain and radiation patterns directly affect RF test results – changing the antenna model after submission requires retesting all related RF items. Finalise the antenna solution at the prototype stage – do not use temporary antennas for submission.

5.3 Wi-Fi RF module – lack of pre-testing
RF remediation often involves hardware rework – the longest remediation cycle. Before formal submission, use a spectrum analyser and signal generator for a pre-test – verifying transmit power, adjacent-channel leakage, and receiver sensitivity – avoiding major remediation during formal testing.
