1. Three-Tier Document List for TRA Type Approval

Tier 1: Application & Declaration Documents

·Online application form: Fill in manufacturer info, product model, origin and technical parameters via eTRA system; ensure model and version consistent with test reports.

·Manufacturer Declaration of Conformity: Officially signed statement declaring compliance with Bahrain safety, EMC and radio standards, covering all referenced ETSI standards; company letterhead signature required, no notarization needed.

·Technical Data Sheet: Detailed RF parameters, frequency band, sensitivity, power supply and physical dimension specifications.

Tier 2: Core Test Reports

·RF Test Report: Issued by GSO/TRA recognized laboratories per relevant ETSI standards; ordinary CE/FCC lab reports are not accepted by TRA.

·EMC Test Report: Mandatory electromagnetic compatibility report from recognized institutions.

·Optional: Existing type approval certificates from other countries (e.g. Saudi SASO) for review reference, not mandatory.

  2. Applicant Qualification Rule

Bahrain eTRA system only accepts applications from locally registered commercial companies. Overseas manufacturers cannot directly register accounts and submit applications, two mainstream solutions:

·Use self-owned Bahrain subsidiary/office as applicant, retain full certificate control.

·Entrust local certification agent/importer as authorized applicant (most common practice); certificate held by agent, requiring official modification if changing agents later.

  3. Certificate Validity & Renewal Rules

·Validity Period: Bahrain TRA type approval certificate valid for 3 years.

·Renewal Fee: Fixed 10 BHD with simple document review, no re-testing required if hardware and technical standards remain unchanged; review cycle around 14 working days.

·Renewal Requirement: Apply 2-3 months before expiry; overdue application involves complicated re-submission procedures.

·Modification Application: Hardware revision, frequency band adjustment or model renaming require official TRA modification with 80 BHD handling fee (8 times higher than renewal fee). Avoid non-essential hardware changes within the validity period to save cost and procedure.
