RCM is the unified compulsory compliance mark for Australian imported electronic and electrical products.All goods entering Australia must meet mandatory requirements including EMC, radio frequency and electrical safety.

1. Standard Upgrade Mandatory in 2025

·New safety standard: AS/NZS 62368.1 fully replaces AS/NZS 60950.1;

·New EMC standard: AS/NZS CISPR 32:2023 is fully enforced.

Old standard certificates are valid for stocked products. New applications, design changes and renewal must adopt the latest standards.

  2. Risk Classification Management

·Level 3 High Risk: Mandatory third-party safety certification and EESS registration;

·Level 2 Medium Risk: EESS registration + authorized laboratory test report;

·Level 1 Low Risk: Supplier self-declaration with no mandatory registration.

  3. Common RF Compliance Risks for Wireless Products

Australia’s radio frequency band allocation is different from North America and Europe.The 915–928MHz IoT dedicated frequency band is exclusive to Australia.Wi-Fi 5GHz channel list and short-range device (LIPD) power limits have been updated in 2025.

  4. Real RCM Lead Time

·Simple EMC-only products: 1–2 weeks;

·Wireless products (EMC+RF): 4–8 weeks;

·Full set of safety+EMC+RF: 8–12 weeks;Additional 1–3 weeks for sample modification and retesting.
