ITU-T P.1140 (10/21) is the latest version released by ITU, focusing solely on speech communication quality of vehicle emergency call systems. It is a test specification without certificate issuance.
Tested Items
Echo suppression, noise suppression, gain control, sidetone control, frequency response, distortion and signal-to-noise ratio. All tests are completed in laboratory with professional artificial head and standard noise equipment.
Non-Tested Items
Crash test, alarm noise, voice coding, data transmission and synchronization are not within the scope of P.1140.
Mandatory Application Scope
EU eCall mandates P.1140 compliance for all new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles since 2018. Russia ERA-GLONASS also references P.1140 as the basic test basis for T-Box and emergency call module certification.
Key Practical Points
·Adopt the latest 2021 version; old version reports may be accepted for in-term projects but prohibited for new projects.
·P.1140 test report is submitted to certification bodies as part of type approval, no independent certificate issued.
·Only laboratories with calibrated professional equipment and vehicle emergency call test experience are recognized.
